The view is beautiful

When it comes to Kenzie, she rarely experiences a moment where she is anything other than a beautiful girl. Even when her feathery fur is snagged with sticks and dried leaves, she looks rather fetching. Regal, even…

But if you were to look deeply into her chocolate eyes… you’d see the back of her skull.

And I mean that with all the love in my heart. She’s the sweetest, most tender-hearted dog I’ve ever known.

But she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Building memories

There are times that I am very conscious of being the mother of a boy. How he has a natural inclination to do things that I’d never dream of doing, picking up, destroying, or examining.

Good thing The Hubster is here to do those things with him while I go off to the garden to do girlie things with pruners, brooms, and ivy. While I cleaned off the front porch and cut back the encroachment of the “green wave” that threatens to consume my wicker couch twice a year, the guys took on the task of getting our Christmas lights on the house.

The new (and old) obsession

We’re having a blast with the new camera. The Boy and The Hubster have been outside with the dogs most of the daylight hours today, and have filled the memory cards time and again…

Their obsession with the camera is a boon to Treelo and his obsession with the Frisbee. After all, what’s a fancy-schmancy camera for if not for capturing the speed and agility of a border collie.

I love the play of shadows across his face in this shot and the way the Nylabone holds onto the light.

I can no longer ride my high horse

After years of complaining about how the Corporate Machine of American Consumerism had forced this country into some sort of slaughterhouse chute on the day after Thanksgiving….

I can no longer complain about Black Friday.

‘Cause I went out into the fray early this morning and got two smokin’ hot deals.
