If I may be so bold…

… as to ask for good thoughts, pixies, prayers, burning incense, or whatever juju you look to and what support can offer.

Tonight is the big ceremony for the RWA writing awards, and my sister (and her sister) could use some get-through-it-with-grace power from the gentle readers at TheSublurbs.

If you’re actually interested in such things, the RWA, it’s conference attendees, and those not-so-lucky writers who couldn’t make it, have been Twittering about the conference using the “hashtag” #rwa10. (or follow that link to get right there…) A few people have offered to tweet the winners as they happen, unless the RWA puts a cabosh on that and jams our cellphone signals. I will do the same to my Twitter feed if I can get my nervous fingers to fly over the keyboard on my phone.

I hope to get pictures of us looking FAB-u-lous, but I also pre-bought 4 wine tickets for the event, so we can either have a celebratory drink or get sloshed in the event of disappointment. Once the wine begins flowing, I will *not* be taking additional pictures…

I’ll try and update before we conk out for the night.

Thanks y’all!

Crammed my brain, stuffed my tummy

Today’s schedule was chock-a-block full of workshops for me — as in, from 8:15 until 5:30, I was in one workshop after the other. And, because the conference is sold out, each and every one was packed. So totally packed, in fact, that there was often standing room only in some workshops!

A very popular workshop was given by Anne Stuart:

Who is a delight! If you ever get the chance to hear her give a speech, talk, workshop, or any public engagement, GO! She’s fabulously funny, mostly uncensored, and incredibly charming.

The morning after the ball

I could risk the eternal wrath of the older sister and take a picture of a snoring Cinderella right now, but…

…now that she’s got these two first place certificates from the Beau Monde soiree, I’d say she deserves a little sleeping in today.

Yep… yepyepyepyepyepyepyepyepyepyep! SHE WON BOTH AWARDS! Yahoooooooo! (Very exciting.)

Today begins the conference itself, starting with the keynote luncheon and the first of the workshops. I’ve put together what I hope will be a very rewarding, interesting, informative — and, yes, exhausting — line-up of events that will carry me back home with the gumption I need to get my butt in gear again.

And no… the most of Disney I’ve seen has been a glimpse of a small corner of Spaceship Earth as we traveled back from the Boardwalk on Tuesday night. *sigh*

A day of waiting

This is the day that my dance card wasn’t chock full of conference events (my sister has a retreat, and then, tonight, there’s the Beau Monde “soiree” and awards ceremony, for which she’s up for two Royal Ascots.)

After a great night of sleep in the Dolphin’s heavenly beds, I have been tied to the laptop, working on revising the submissions I want to make to a big contest next month.

Oh… and I’m reading a great book my sister recommended: Pam Rosenthal’s The Slightest Provocation.

We’re off to the “goody room” to see what swag we can snag!
