“You smell good”

I’m finding it ironic that I’ve been posting about being frugal, but am about to show you one of my more expensive vices. For what I’m about to do, please forgive me.

This stuff is heaven.

This stuff smells like the baked goods of your dreams.

This stuff makes your skin feel like silk.

This stuff costs an arm and a leg (or it feels that way to a cheapskate like me.)

Ohhhh… but it’s SO worth it. And your arm and your leg will be silky-smoooooooth!

If you’re already a fan of “stinky stuff” (as my sisters-in-law call it), then you may be familiar with solid moisturizers, perfumes, and body butters. If you’re a regular traveler to Disney World, then you may already know about Basin and Basin White.

But, if not… then you’ve got exciting times ahead.

I fell in love with these products a few years ago after succumbing to the urge to buy one of the tiny pots of solid perfume at Basin White – the store inside the Grand Floridian resort. (It’s not available at the Downtown Disney Basin store — only at Basin White in the GF.)

You just swirl your finger across the surface of the solid perfume and then rub the wax into your pulse points. Instant deliciousness.

I know that Basin describes the “Pink Sugar” scent as smelling like cotton candy, but — to me — it smells like freshly-baked sugar cookies. And I can’t tell you the number of times the guys I work with have come to my cubicle to ask if I’d been baking.

And speaking of guys, this stuff is like a porch light to moths on a warm summer night. I’m serious — they come running! They don’t know WHY, but they do. I get so many hugs from The Hubster when I’m wearing it!

The other two items I have are the same scent, but have the added benefit of improving the moisture of your skin. The solid moisturizer took a little getting used to. It *looks* like a bar of soap, but isn’t used that way.

This is the bar I’ve had for the last 14 months — and it’s barely gotten smaller!

I eventually figured out that it’s best to use this after a shower, when my skin is still a little wet. I rub the bar over my dry spots (which, in the winter, is just about everywhere) and then massage it in. If my skin isn’t wet enough, I run the bar under the faucet for a second before rubbing my skin.

Basin White also offers a more traditional lotion-like moisturizer that I’ve yet to try.

And BONUS! Both the solid and lotion moisturizers are on sale right now through the Basin White website!

The other Basin White product I love can be used anytime, without the need for water.

The texture of the body butter reminds me of a whipped dairy product, and is easily scooped up on a finger and rubbed into the skin. That same intoxicating scent wafts up around you as you smear it onto dry spots.

Your skin will thank you. So will the men in your life. The softness it leaves behind is unbelieveable!

And, if the bank teller catches you with your eyes closed, your nose pressed against your forearm… you can blame me. Then tell them to head over to the Basin White website and get themselves some of this girly goodness! ;)
Eileen

PS – I also love the Lemon Sugar scent, but am contemplating some of the others: Almond Coconut, Lime Sugar, Oatmeal Honey, Satsuma (which smells like Clementine oranges), and Plumeria (a floral scent.)

Thanks for the info. I’ve often seen in your TR’s you mention going to Basin White to stock up. But never knew exactly what it was all about!

So after I checked out the website, I know what I’m getting my mom while in Disney. :) I may have to splurge for myself as well.

*** I”m loving this gift card promotion, my list is growing***

Oh… and I forgot — if you have a Disney Annual Pass, they give you a percentage off if you show it at the counter. (I don’t think you can get the discount if you order through the website, tho.)

    Sounds very yummy!!

I just love Basin and Basin White. I’m a big fan of their bath bombs. But hubbie is not a perfume fan, so I try to keep it to a minimum. He thinks that if someone harnessed the smell of roasted chicken and turned it into a perfume, that would be a turn on. I beg to differ. But maybe he wouldn’t mind the smell of cookies. I’ll have to check it out!

Yum! My skin can feel the softness of that stuff just by looking at the photo!!

OMG – Love me some Basin… and now thinking I need a trip to Basin White!!! I am out of bathbombs and almost out of BodyButter – all cause I have not been to WDW since last May!!
