Home-made gifts

Do you make any of your Christmas gifts by hand? Do you have the time to do it?

I used to make alot more gifts than I do now. (But maybe that was a factor of my being a dirt-poor student….) And I’m sorta in the mood to start again.

Which is why I’m considering making this from the Gluten Free Mom:

Gifts in a Jar Recipes

I know I love me some scrubbing sugar! And I’ve collected a ton of “spa day” recipes for bath bombs, salts, scrubs, and lotions over the years. I even have most of the makings, and the bottles and jars to put them in!

I think I know what I might be doing this weekend…

Shutterfly R-O-C-K-S!

I just doodled around a bit and came up with a cool design for this year’s Christmas cards:

And they were on sale — and had a discount – AND HAD FREE SHIPPING!

WooHOO!

And it was super duper easy too. It took me some time to build the image collage in PhotoShop, but if I only wanted a single image, it would’ve taken me less than 5 minutes from start to finish.

Oh tannenbaum…

I had to torture The Hubster to do it, but our Christmas tree is up!

And it involved stringing the lights once, only to find that The Boy hadn’t spaced them properly. Once again with the stringing, only to find that it was popping fuses. Out I ran to various stores for a couple of hours trying to hunt the elusive replacement fuses. As an “ace in my back pocket,” I listened to the sage advice of The Hubster and bought four sets of the new LED lights, just in case.

Which turned out to be a brilliant idea, as the new fuses kept blowing too — making my dear, darling, even-tempered husband mutter things that are decidedly un-Christmas-like.

Heeeelarious holiday decorations

My brother sent a viral holiday tidbit to me through email last night.

This is the note that goes along with it:

“Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever.Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.”

Very funny stuff, but I suspect this guy really, really loves Halloween. ;)
